Those who buy tickets online in December will be entered to win one of 10 Canyon Coolers as part of the “Buy Early, Buy Often, Win Big” incentive drawing program. Additional incentive drawings take place for all tickets purchased online through May. Buyers will receive one incentive drawing entry per order regardless of the number of raffle tickets purchased in that order.

Raffle tickets can be ordered online, or a ticket order form that can be printed out and mailed in is available on the website. Tickets range from $5 to $25 depending on the species. All mail-order entries must be received by July 13, 2018, and online sales end July 15, 2018, at 10 p.m. (Arizona). There is no limit on how many tickets can be purchased. The drawing will take place July 26, 2018.

In the 12-year history of the raffle, more than $6.1 million have been raised for wildlife and wildlife management in Arizona. Conducted by a nonprofit entity, a volunteer board of directors made up of representatives from sponsoring organizations oversees the raffle’s operation.

There are very few limitations on hunting areas and the prices for each ticket have been set to give every hunter in the world an opportunity to win a true hunt of a lifetime.  Prices range from $5-25 each.  (See the Buy Tickets page).

Arizona offers some of the best trophy opportunities in North America for each of these species.  A quick review of the both the B&C and P&Y record book will confirm this.  (Click for B&C and P&Y websites).  If you are after a truly huge mule deer, elk, antelope, Coues deer, desert bighorn sheep, or buffalo, then Arizona is where you need to be.  The only huntable population of Gould’s turkeys in the United States exists in Southern Arizona and can be hunted with this tag.

What is the Raffle For?

These Special Tags are designed to earn money for wildlife and wildlife management in Arizona. Every dollar raised for each species by the raffle of these special big game tags is returned to the Arizona Game and Fish Department and managed by the Arizona Habitat Partnership Committee (AHPC) for that particular species. With input from local habitat partners across the state, as well as the input from the organizations involved with the fund raising, they collectively determine which projects will provide the most benefit to each species represented. Read more about the program in a May 2017 article HERE.

Operating costs are covered entirely by sales of the Optics Raffle and New Mexico Elk Hunt tickets as well as contributions from the sponsoring organizations.  The management of the raffle is overseen by a volunteer board of directors.

Born in Toledo, Ohio circa 1950. I was the oldest of four children and had the good fortune to be inquisitive about wildlife and specifically rabbits and pheasants that were abundant in the area that I was raised in. With later moves to Michigan, I found that exploring the great outdoors was just a short bike ride away and I invested in a Havahart trap at age 11. Raccoons, skunks, squirrels and possum became the choice of prey and that stayed my mainstay until college. I knew that elk were abundant and of trophy class in Arizona so it sealed the deal for relocating here. Since 1986 I have spent as much time as possible learning about elk and trying to become a better hunter.
